LCD Scroll Display on Arduino

If you are here on this site, that means you have started exploring Arduino Board and looking for some help with LCD display. You are exactly at the right place.

In this demo, I will show you how to scroll words on LCD display with Arduino Board using LiquidCrystal Library. LiquidCrystal Library is very powerful library and most of the functions are available in the library which can be called and used in the Arduino program.

Before this, You must know the basic understanding of Pins of LCD, their functions and how to connect them on Arduino Board. (Please visit here)

Below is the program for scrolling of sentences on LCD Display.

Program on Arduino Software

You can copy and paste whole program from here.

Compile it and Upload it on Arduino Board and observe the output on LCD.

//Program starts here

#include <LiquidCrystal.h>

LiquidCrystal lcd(7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12);

void setup() {
// put your setup code here, to run once:
lcd.print(“Purushottam, How are you doing ?”);

void loop() {
// put your main code here, to run repeatedly:
delay (500);

//Program ends here

LiquidCrystal Library takes care of these functions related to LCD.

First we define an LCD connection using LiquidCrsyatl lcd(RS, E, D4, D5, D6, D7).

In setup() function,

lcd.begins(16,2) defines that LCD is a 2 x 16 LCD Display.

lcd.clear() functions clears everything on the LCD if any thing is already existing on the LCD.

lcd.setCursor(0,1) puts the cursor on next line from where the print should happen.

lcd.print (“xxxxx”) just puts all these characters on second line.

In loop() function,

we define lcd.scrollDisplayLeft() and delay (500) which starts scrolling the display towards left after delay of 0.5 s.

Demo of the Program

Here is the snapshot of the scroll display happening on LCD.

Here is how the final output looks, please visit on youtube.
